As a costume designer who emigrated from China to the United States, I always find a personal connection with plays in which the protagonist is searching for his or her place in the world.
…this play changed my perspective on the meaning of home…
Many years ago I saw a Broadway show called Bombay Dreams. One line really struck me: “Where is home? Home is a place where your soul can find peace.”
For years I was battling in my mind with where to call home because I grew up in China, but have lived in America for the last 27 years. The experience of this play changed my perspective on the meaning of home, and I continue to search for it.
