ABOUT THE EVENT
Andrea Brown, music director
Dance into the UMD Wind Ensemble’s 2024-25 season! The performance begins with works by Alfred Reed, Dwayne Milburn and Joni Greene that reflect on themes of revelation, memory and the human experience. Herbert Hazelman’s A Short Ballet for Awkward Dancers provides some comedic relief, with movements inspired by those who can’t dance, such as “March for Two Left Feet.” The concert concludes with Philip Sparke’s Dance Movements, a piece bursting with color and life that brings a triumphant ending to this performance.
PROGRAM
Alfred Reed: "Rejoicing" from Three Revelations from the Lotus Sutra
Joni Greene: The Persistence of Memory
Herbert Hazelman: A Short Ballet for Awkward Dancers
Dwayne Milburn: American Hymnsong Suite
Philip Sparke: Dance Movements
