Program Notes:
UMWO performs Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor. Although sparsely orchestrated, the rich harmonies between the chorus and winds make this work one of Bruckner’s first recognized masterpieces.
The program also features UMD’s professor of horn, Gregory Miller, performing David Amram’s Concerto for Horn and Orchestra.
Program
- HARTLEY: Concerto for 23 Winds
- AMRAM: Concerto for Horn and Orchestra
- BRUCKNER: Mass in E Minor
Review by DC Metro Theater Arts
But the real highlight of the evening was the Bruckner, directed by Dr. Edward Maclary. Joined by the University of Maryland Concert Choir, a small group of 15 orchestra members performed this sparsely orchestrated piece, originally commissioned in 1866 by the Archbishop of Linz, Austria for the dedication of a chapel
