Program Notes:
The UMD Wind Orchestra is actively expanding wind repertoire. Through a consortium of American wind ensembles, UMWO has commissioned and will premiere four works in its 2014–2015 season.
On its second concert, UMWO premieres Where the Good Sounds Live by American composer Alvin Singleton, which was written to honor the life of Drexel University’s former band director Mike Moss. The concert also features Chen-Yi’s Dragon Rhyme, which conveys the auspicious and vibrant image of the dragon through colorful orchestration and melodies.
