Founded in 2009 at the New England Conservatory, The Excelsa Quartet has earned international acclaim for their artistry.
In 2011, they won First Prize and EMCY Art Prize at the Charles Hennen 26th International Chamber Music Competition, and the Priz de “Jeunes Jury” et du Public in the Illzach 17th International Chamber Music Competition.
Among other accomplishments, the quartet participated in the Britten-Pears International Academy of String Quartets in Aldeburgh, England in 2009 and 2010, and have all held principal positions in the Lucerne Chamber Orchestra.
On their debut recital as the School of Music’s Graduate Fellowship String Quartet, Excelsa performs Mozart’s String Quartet in D minor, K. 421 and Beethoven’s String Quartet in F Major Op. 59 No. 1.
