TDPS Students Take to the Kennedy Center Stage
How do you get to the Kennedy Center Stage? Practice, practice, practice. And it helps to be one of the lucky students who work with UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies professor Scot Reese.
Reese and his Musical Theatre Workshop students have been invited to present a Cabaret of Classics from the Broadway Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage on May 5th at 6PM.
“These students are the talent who will preside over musical theatre in coming years,” said Reese of his young performers. “But even more exciting is that they will be delivering an outstanding performance on May 5th in one of the nation’s most prestigious performing arts venues.”
The show was created by the students themselves under the direction of Professor Reese and Doug Lawler and features songs and duets by such legendary composers as Bacharach, Berlin, Bernstein, Ellington, Gershwin and Kern. The performance is free and unticketed. More information about Millennium Stage can be found here.
